APRIL 23, 2020
The B.A.A. has communicated via email with all officially registered participants in the 2020 Boston Marathon and 2020 B.A.A. 5K. In early April, athletes received an email containing their personalized registration link to either confirm their intention to participate in September’s races or elect to receive a full refund of all race-associated entry fees. The deadline to make a selection is Friday, May 29, 2020.
Refund requests are final after they are processed. Should a participant select that they intend to participate and their situation changes, they may modify the selection to request a refund until the May 29 deadline.
In addition, on April 9 the B.A.A. announced that the 2020 B.A.A. 10K, presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital, has been postponed until November 22, 2020. Those who took part in early registration for the B.A.A. 10K will receive an email from the B.A.A. containing more information in the near future.
Similarly, registrants of the B.A.A. Distance Medley have the opportunity to receive refunds for any or all of the three B.A.A. Distance Medley races they can no longer participate in. An email was distributed to entrants in April providing the opportunity to confirm entry in the B.A.A. 5K, B.A.A. 10K, and B.A.A. Half Marathon, or elect to receive a refund for any/all races which they can no longer participate in. Distance Medley entrants must make their selection by the May 29 deadline.

The Boston Athletic Association is carefully considering all options for those who may not be able to participate in September and will be in touch with all registered participants with more instructions. We will address all issues and questions as quickly as we can with the goal of being fair to all. This is a rapidly evolving situation and we encourage participants to direct any questions to FAQ2020@baa.org.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has been meeting regularly with city and state officials to discuss all updates related to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Governor Charlie Baker declared a state of emergency on March 10, 2020. We offer our full support to take all reasonable efforts to postpone the 124th Boston Marathon to Monday, September 14, 2020.
This is a rapidly evolving situation and we know there will be many questions that we will look to answer in the coming days. We’ve set up a new email to respond to your questions as best we can: FAQ2020@baa.org.
