Community Programming

The Boston’s Marathoners/CommUnity Runs Boston Program is looking forward to building on three successful years and continuing the program with a new group of runners in 2025! There have been so many wonderful stories and testimonials. The City of Boston Equity and Inclusion Cabinet and the B.A.A. are gathering feedback to build off the runners’ experiences.  Where funding permits, the feedback will help inform the program going forward.

About the Boston’s Marathoners/Community Runs Boston Program

The BRC Boston’s Marathoner and CommUnity Runs Boston programs have been created in partnership with Boston’s diverse running community. These programs offer Bostonians from historically underrepresented groups the opportunity to represent their city and organizations in the historic Boston Marathon. Their participation is a source of pride for themselves and their city and empowers people from all backgrounds and running levels to pursue their running and fitness goals. Led by ‘Captains’ who share their training and racing experiences, a vibrant running community that uplifts them on their journey, and the City of Boston and the Boston Athletic Association who support them in achieving their goals – the runners are cared for and celebrated from start to finish and beyond.

Boston’s Medley to Marathon

Additionally, a new program is being added – the ‘Boston’s Medley to Marathon”.  Was today your first 5K? Or maybe you haven’t done one yet? This program may be for you! Ten individuals who are new to running and aspire to run the Boston Marathon will have the opportunity to participate in the 2025 B.A.A. Distance Medley.  The objective is to support those newer to running to build toward the marathon distance by participating in the Boston 5K in April (3.1 miles), the Boston 10K (6.2 miles) in June and the Boston Half Marathon (13.1 miles) in November 2025. After completing the program, the participants can elect to run the 2026 Boston Marathon (26.2 miles).

The application will be available this fall.
