The Boston Athletic Association, organizer of the Boston Marathon and running programs in Massachusetts, has partnered with Normatec by Hyperice, global leaders in athlete recovery, to bring recovery technology to the B.A.A.’s team of athletes. Normatec will serve as an Official Contributor to the B.A.A. including the B.A.A. High Performance Team and B.A.A. Running Club.
The partnership aligns two Boston-based organizations to collaborate on events and provide access to Hyperice’s technology for B.A.A. athletes. B.A.A. runners will also have access to the Normatec Recovery Room and community space at Hyperice’s East Coast office in Watertown, MA. Hyperice has provided additional technology to B.A.A. coaches, staff, and elite runners, including the Hypervolt Plus, as they focus on at-home training, recovery, and preparation for the 2021 season.
“The B.A.A.’s partnership with Normatec by Hyperice is a natural pairing that will assist our runners as they train for future competitions,” said B.A.A. High Performance Team head coach Mark Carroll. “We are proud to partner with a fellow Boston-based organization whose mission aligns with ours: to support athletes in improving their overall health and fitness.”
“We have been working with the B.A.A. for years, especially around Boston Marathon activations, so we are excited to make it official and expand on our affiliation with this partnership,” said Gilad Jacobs, Chief Innovation Officer at Hyperice. “Our patented compression technology focuses on circulation to the limbs, recovery, and reducing soreness. After years of collaboration, in March of 2020, we were acquired by Hyperice, allowing the company to provide a comprehensive suite of fitness technology including percussion, vibration, compression, and thermal devices. We look forward to supporting their runners and helping them to nurture talent with our world class recovery technology. The B.A.A. is one of the oldest and most-renowned running organizations in the world and we anticipate great collaborations together and incredible things from their athletes in the coming years.”
The 124th Boston Marathon Virtual Experience will be held from September 5 through 14, with participants from nearly 100 countries covering 26.2 miles virtually within their neighborhood. The Boston Marathon Expo will also be held virtually where attendees will have access to the Normatec by Hyperice booth to get more interactive information about the compression technology.
